Sharon Jane Harper

Sharon Jane Harper was born on December 11, 1950 in Charleston, WV to Shirley Young and the late Freeman Walker. She moved to Columbus Ohio at a young age where she graduated from Linden-McKinley High School.

She was preceded in death by her loving Aunt Jessie Lee Faucett, Brother Michael Young, Sister Yvonne Young, Grandparents Simeon and Pearl Faucett.
Sharon was a cook by trade, she loved to cook for her loved ones and her dishes were delicious. She retired from the Columbus School System after over 30 years of service as a Cafeteria Manager. She was a hard worker and worked several jobs to provide for her family. She was also an entrepreneur with a catering service named “Food To Go.” She served her clients like she served her food with love, caring and sharing and a level of excellence second to none.

She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior at a young age, she loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was a faithful member of St. Matthews F.B.H. Church where she received the baptism of the Holy-Ghost. She would often have bible study at home with her children. She took pride in raising them in the admonition of The Lord. Sharon accepted the call into the ministry in 1987. Later in life she joined Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies under the Leadership of Bishop Sherman Watkins; where she served as a Minister, Deaconess, Church Mother, Hospitality Team, Intercessory Prayer Warrior, Nursing Home Ministry and the Ministerial Alliance.

Sharon married the late William W.T. Tatum in 1970 with whom she mothered three sons that she adored. Her sons love her unconditionally always and forever. They share fond memories of her favorite sayings “Spare the rod, spoil the child, I rebuke you Satan, Loose here and You’s a lie!”

She later met and married Edmond Harper Jr., In August of 1989. They shared a wonderful 40 year relationship of love, peace and hope. Her husband was her loving caretaker and he took meticulous care of her until her last moment.

Sharon Harper leaves to cherish her precious memories; her loving husband Edmond Harper Jr., her mother Shirley Young, her sons, Bishop James E. Tatum Sr. (LaShanda) of Cincinnati, OH., Craig A. Tatum (Cynthia) and De Angelo Tatum both of Columbus, OH., one sister Patricia Ghee, one brother William Young Jr., Daughter’s in love Tonya M. Latham Tatum and Tia D. Carrington, special sisters Lady Brenda Baldwin, Toya Watts, Garnett Ross and Cheryl Fields, special niece Phyllis M. Gray, a grand host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren

PRIVATE Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Friday, September 11, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave.

A MASK IS MANDATORY.

Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery.
