Dnitra Ruth Morant

Dnitra Ruth Morant, mother, sister, aunt, and friend of many, left this world February 11th,2023 due to pancreatic cancer.

Born April 9th, 1963, in Mansfield, Ohio to Charlie and Margaret Morant, Dnitra, who was called “Neet” by family and close friends, lived in Mansfield most of her life and spent her final months with her daughter Margaret and son-in-law Jerrod (“rod rod”) Wade. She graduated from Malabar High School in 1982 and spent summers working at Richland Newhope industries, where she acquired the nickname “Sunshine”, and met mentors Tammy Bowers and Jerry Ziggler, who became dear friends and extended family.

Dnitra was a lifelong member of Maddox Memorial Church of God in Christ (formerly known as Temple of Faith) and especially enjoyed hearing the choir sing. She lived a life of grace and every person that knew her witnessed the power of Jesus Christ in her life. She lived a servant’s life and modeled a servant’s heart. She showed her love of people with hugs and smiles and enjoyed long conversations with close friends, Annette Favors, Patricia Ford, Reb Sewell, and Brenda Scott. They shared laughter and tears as she pointed them all to Jesus.

She loved shopping, nature walks, and attending concerts and dances with Tammy. She loved cookouts and entertaining others with her humor. Even in her final days she remained feisty and kept those around her on their toes.

Dnitra is survived by daughter, Margaret Rebekah (Jarrod) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, brother Charles (Allicin) of Mansfield, Ohio, brother Derrick (Tonee) of Columbus, Ohio, sister Rachel Dumas of San Antonio, Texas, brother David (Annette) of Gambrills, Maryland, aunt, Lillie Ruth Garner, of Kansas City, Kansas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Michael, grandparents Rachel Canada, Leon and Georgianne Morant, uncles Leon, Robert, Eddie Frank, and John, aunt Stella Mae Harris, great aunts Ruth Robinson and Lovie Murphy, nephew Sharrod Dumas and godmother, Rebecca Green.
