Jimmy L. Canady

SUNRISE MAY 22, 1944 – SUNSET MAY 30, 2018
A member of New Birth Ministries, Jimmy was the 9th child of eleven siblings born to the late Dave and Mary Canada. Jimmy was born in Triadelphia, West Virginia. At an early age his family relocated to Gallia County, Ohio. Jimmy loved playing basketball and excelled as one of the top basketball star who graduated from North Gallia High school.

After high school Jimmy went on to enlist in the United States Army. While serving his country he continued and enjoyed playing basketball. He was an employee of TechnGlass of Columbus, Ohio and retired after 23 years of service. Jimmy enjoyed fishing and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In 1993 Jimmy was united in marriage to LaTonya (Williams) Canady.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Mary; and siblings, Benjamin, Virginia, Alberta, Lorenzo, Sue, Douglas, Ruth, Robert and Shirley; sister in law, Brenda Alexander.

Jimmy was surrounded by his wife, children, and family when the Lord called him home On May 30, 2018.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, LaTonya; daughter, Penny Barker; son, Jerome Burger; brother, Darryll Canada; and sister-in-law, Minnie Canady. Special nephew and caregiver, Richard Mays; in laws: Marvenia Bosley, Alfred and Sharon Williams, Garland and Missy Williams, Kenny Hill, Cennie and Carl Williamson, June R. Williams, Katherine Tate and John Williams; Faithful pet, Pickles; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jimmy will forever be in our hearts as we all will miss him dearly.

Visitation 11:00am and Home Going Service 12:00pm Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at New Birth Christian Ministries 3475 Refugee Rd., Columbus, OH 43232.

Interment at Glen Rest Cemetery.
