James Allen Miller

James Allen Miller, known to friends as ‘Mill’ & ‘Miller’, was born in Dayton, OH on October 20, 1967 to Willie and Elouise Miller. He was the youngest of ten children.  James was a graduate of Colonel White High School in Dayton, where he was a standout basketball star. In 1985, James enlisted in the United States Air Force and later married Yolanda Winslow.  To that union three lovely girls was born, Brittany, Colette, and Deja.  James later moved to Columbus, Ohio where he married Nina Young in 2004, to this union was born Javon; joined with his brothers Reggie and Ryan, and they with Brittany, Colette and Deja a blended family was formed.

James and his family joined the First Church of God.   James was employed at the Department of Corrections in Columbus. Later he branched out to start his own real estate business and apply his passion for basketball to coaching and mentoring for several years. James’ greatest joy was his family and children.  He would spend countless hours counseling and advising his children on the ways of life.  Making sure they had the necessary information to get to the next level.

He was loved by many who today realize that God loved him as well and saw fit to bring him home October 6, 2018 after battling an illness.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Willie and Elouise Miller, siblings; Robert Gray and Andrea Richmond.

He leaves to mourn his passing, wife Nina Miller, who will miss him dearly, six children; Brittany, Colette (Daniel), Reggie, Ryan, Deja, and Javon. Siblings: James Gray, Lonzo (Joyce) Gray, Rev. Thomas (Patricia) Gray, Luscious Miller, Eddie (Sonja) Gray, Mattie (Charles) Lewis, Lois Aldridge, Linda Gray, Angela Gray, and a host of nieces and nephews.

We salute his memory with mixed emotions and butterfly kisses for we know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord…..Rest sweet James rest.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Thursday, October 18, 2018 at First Church of God 3480 Refugee Road Columbus, OH 43232 .

Interment 930am Friday, October 19, 2018 at Dayton National Cemetery.
