Albert C. Culver

On Monday, January 17, 2022 our beloved, Albert Costella Culver, passed away quietly in his sleep after bravely battling the last stages of cancer, at the age of 78.
Albert Costella Culver was born on December 6, 1943 from the union of Costella Culver and Maggie (Crump) Culver in Columbus, Ohio. On July 24, 1986, Albert received his Certificate of Training from the Northwest Career Center Department of Adult Education after completing 534 hours of the Auto Body Course. He loved working on cars and was also an experienced welder and warehouse worker by trade.
Albert was a confessed believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and very often read the Bible, prayed and listened to his favorite preachers. He also loved books, playing chess, driving & traveling, listening to good music, and watching football. He was a very good pool player and enjoyed cooking. He loved his family and was a faithful friend. He was a good listener and had an infectious joyful, easygoing, positive personality that could help you be at ease and leave you assured that everything would work out and be ok – even in the most challenging situations. You would usually end up laughing together and ready to face whatever challenge lay ahead. He said that he knew that The Lord was with him and that he would forever be with Jesus, no matter what happened.
Albert was preceded in death by his father, Costella, and his mother, Maggie; his wife, Hattie; his two siblings, Carl Culver and Georgina Lee-Price-Turner; his step-son, Jerry Powell and step-daughter, Cheryl Womack.
Those who remain to cherish memories of Albert include his 3 daughters: Felicia Tibbs, Sarah Thompson, and Stella (Terry) Marshall; his son: Albert (Darnice) Powell; his step sons & daughters: Gwen Newsome, Tyrone Powell, Phillip Powell, Cheryl Courts, Sharon Scales and Gregory Gunter; his sister-in-law, Sandra Culver; his grandchildren: Silas Tibbs, Simeon Tibbs, Samuel Tibbs, Salome Tibbs, Sophia Tibbs, Sara Tibbs, Samara Tibbs and Stephanas Tibbs; Dallas Tyson, Jordan Tyson, Isaac Tyson Noel Tyson, Sophia Miller and Joshua Thompson; Lashauna Bowie, Terry Marshall Jr. and Victoria Marshall; Albert Brunner, Jamar Brunner, Taquisila Brunner, Shavonte Brunner, Carlisean Ball, Chuquan Davis, DeShawn Brunner; 36 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, his special friends – the Brunners, and his friends.
The Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Marlan Gary Funeral Home Chapel of Peace East, 5456 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232.
