Alice V. Pryor

Alice Virginia “Mama” Stewart-Pryor, was born September 16, 1932 to Henrietta & Morris Stewart in Ward, West Virginia. Mama did it her way, she went to sleep on February 7, 2023, like she said she would on many occasions. Mama was the youngest of nine children & the last one to depart this life.
Mama was a majorette and graduated early from high school as an honor student.
At an early age Mama accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Although Mama would face many obstacles & challenges in life, she never wavered in faith that the Lord would bring her out of any situation.
Mama had various jobs throughout her life, but her greatest job was working for the Lord. Mama is a licensed ordained minister. She stepped out in faith to form a congregation called God’s Bible Church of All Nations. Mama had a strong compassion for backsliders to return back to God.
Mama absolutely LOVED her children and grandchildren. She raised two of her grandchildren, after their mother passed. She enjoyed watching her other grandchildren. It was a tradition upon the release from the hospital of her newborn grandchild to stop by her home first.
There’s nothing she wouldn’t do to make life a little better for us.  She loved to listen to you, tell stories about her life, laugh, “clown”, go out to EAT breakfast, lunch or dinner. At times meals would carry over to the next one. Mama always left with extra chicken! Mama was so good & hilarious with improv. She was quick to makeup & talk out a skit.
Mama was an encouraging mother, grandmother, and aunt. Mama prayed every night at midnight for her family. Mama never missed calling her children or grandchildren on their birthdays to sing to them. Mama made sure she had “lotsa” snacks when the grandchildren came to see her. She always asked us if we needed anything even if she was in need herself.
Oh, how our pretty Mama loved us so unselfishly & unconditional! She never turned us away. Mama said, it would hurt her heart to turn any of her children or grands away. Mama, what an AWESOME mother you are!
Mama never backed down to the attacks of the devil. She fought, worshipped and praised God until what she believed God to do was manifested.
Mama was so grateful to Bishop Watkins & his family for how they protected & loved her.
At the age of 89, Mama wrote & published her first book, titled “According to Mark the Gospel of Jesus Christ Begins”. Mama was so excited to have finished her last assignment. Mama your love for the Lord, souls being saved, faith & family unity is your legacy.

Mama is preceded in death by parents, Morris and Henrietta Stewart; brothers, Robert “RC” Stewart, Castle Stewart, Morris Stewart Jr., Vance Uren Stewart, Vance Buren Stewart, and Willie Stewart; sister, Ethel (Joe) Sharp; daughter, Lorena Stewart; grandson, Gregory LaMont Stewart; and granddaughter, Deanna R.
