Andrea P. Johnson Daves, age 33.  Sunrise August 3, 1983 in Columbus, Ohio and Sunset February 22, 2017 in San Diego, CA.  Andrea was a member of Triedstone Baptist Church and a member of Childrens Band under Bishop Jerome Ross Sr.  She was a graduate of Brookhaven High School, where she played basketball and participated in track and field activities. She received a scholarship to Ohio University where she played with The Lady Ohio Bobcats and earned her Bachelors in Healthcare System Administration.

She has been serving in the U.S. Navy since 2009.  She left for Recruit Trainging in Great Lakes, Illinois in August of 2009 and arrived at NAVAL Technical Training Center Pensacola, Florida for training as an Aviation Ordnanceman in October.  After graduating she traveled to Japan to become a part of the crew of the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN73).  It was here that she excelled!   She was Command Advanced to Petty Officer Third Class, earned her Enlisted Aviation and Surface Warfare Specialist designations, and was assigned as a Quality Assurance Representative.  She volunteered with the local community and represented the United States Navy playing Women’s Basketball.  Leaving Japan as a Petty Officer Second Class, She transferred to the USS ESSEX (LHD2).  Her expert technical skills were identified and she immediately contributed to the team.  It was here that she ment her future husband, AD2 Skyler Daves.

Upon her transfer to FRCSW Detachment North Island, San Diego, CA, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Skyla.  After trturning from maternity leave she took over as the Ordnance Supervisor and a Collateral Duty Inspector.  Petty Officer Daves Increased qualifications in her shop and advancement numbers among her  Shipmates.   After a successful Aviation Maintenance Inspection in 2016, her and her husband decided to grow their family.  In November 2016 she gave birth to their son, Storm.

Andrea was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rita and John Johnson Jr. and great grandparents, Viola and John Henry Clayton.  Left to cherish her memory, husband, Skyler; daughter, Skyla; son, Storm; mother, Pamela Johnson; father, John Anthony Johnson; mother in law, Denise Campbell; grandmother, Dazer Mason; uncles, Anthony, John and Kelley; aunts, Debra and Sherry and a host of cousins and friends.

She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Daughter, and Servicewoman.    She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and the pleasure of loving her.
