Angelia Denise Barber

Ms. Angelia Denise Barber was born on February 2, 1966 To Mr. Willie Lee Barber Sr. and Mrs. Drenda Lee (Walters) Barber, in Laurel Mississippi. She fought for her life every step of the way. Angie often said to us, ”I shall live, I will not die.” Angelia never gave up she fought for 9 years and 11 months and on May 15, 2024 she received her Wings, at home with her family and pastor.
Angelia was known by family and friends as “Angie”. Angelia attended Whetstone High School and graduated in 1984. She continued her education at Columbus State Community College. Angelia accepted Christ at an early age. She was a devoted member of, So Help Me God Church of Christ. Angelia was under the leadership of the late Ms. Mildred Lindsey (the founder) and Pastor Tyrone Lindsey Sr. Angelia, was a leader in Missionary work, Usher Board, Vacation Bible Study, and the Free Lunch Program.

Angelia is preceded in death by her father, Willie Lee Barber Sr.; brother, Willie Lee Barber Jr.; grandmothers, Helen Garner, Rose Bell Barber; grandfathers, Henry Walters, James Edward Garner Sr. and Homer Barber Sr.; aunts, Brenda Kay Garner, Helen Louise Garner, Shiquita Garner, Lula Bell Barber, Lisa Barber and Rose Denise Barber; nephew, Karon Barber.

Angelia’s memories will be cherished by mother, Drenda Barber; son, Herman Ray Jones; grandson, Jabray Barber; brothers, Willie Barnard (Kneta) Barber, Zechariah Barber; sisters, Sandra and Elizabeth Barber; great aunt, Ora Lee Washington (Mississippi aunts), Lytron (Glen) Watson, Claudia Barber; (Mississippi uncles), James Edward (Ushler) Garner, Jamail Garner, Lexworth Garner, Homer Barber Sr. (Chicago) and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 2100 Aberdeen Ave. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to MARLAN J.
