Anita Michelle Peaks, age 62, of Columbus, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on May 6, 2024, at the Ohio State Hospice Facility. She was born on January 20, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio, to Cary Leonard and Helen Marie Peaks.
Anita graduated from Central High School in June 1980, receiving an award from the City of Columbus for thirteen years of perfect attendance, getting recognition from the Columbus Dispatch. Anita retired from The Department of Taxation on October 31, 2014 where she worked for 30 years.
When she was able, she started attending Greater Christ Temple (GCT) under the pastorate of Bishop Wayne Moore, Sr. She wanted to join GCT, but as her health declined, she wasn’t able to. Bishop and Lady Moore visited her in the hospital on Saturday, April 27, and when he found out that was her intention, he extended the right hand of fellowship and welcomed her to the GCT family.
Prior to joining Greater Christ Temple, she was a faithful member of New Generation under the pastorate of Pastor Maurice Jackson. Anita grew up and got her Christian foundation at Ebenezer Baptist Church under the late pastorate of Rev L.C. Brown Sr. Anita accepted Christ on January 20, 1997. She was not afraid to share Christ with anyone she met. Whenever she was at the hospital she would witness to doctors, nurses, and custodian workers. She would always tell them that she wanted to see them in heaven one day.
