Anna Ruth Mason

Anna Ruth Mason was born October 1st, 1948, in Portsmouth, Ohio to William and Dorothy Samuels. She went home to be with the Lord on Thursday August 4th, 2022, at the Wexner Heritage Village. Anna Ruth attended Portsmouth Public Schools and graduated from New York City Public schools. She went on to attend Columbus State Community College, to receive her Associate Degree. Anna Ruth was employed by the City of Columbus Refuge Department. She was forced to retire due to health reasons.
Anna Ruth attended church at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church and Come as You Are Non-Denominational Church. She was baptized and filled the Holy Ghost. She sang in the choir and was a member of the Building Auxiliary Board (she cooked dinners and desserts). She enjoyed reading her Bible.
In Anna Ruth’s spare time, she enjoyed word search puzzles, playing cards, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. She hung with her loving friends. She adored spending time with Mr. Joseph Mason Jr. (Big Joe) As he was the sparkle in her eye. Anna Ruth loved to listen to old school music. Earth, Wind & Fire, and the Emotions were her favorite groups. She was a wonderful daughter, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. She will be loved and missed by all.

She was preceded in death by Father- William Samuels, mother- Dorothy Samuels, Brothers -William Samuels Jr. (Bill), Ernest Samuels (Wayne), Charles Samuels (Shorty), Sister – Renee Samuels and one of her dear friends Connie Faulks
She leaves to cherish her memories: Sons: Shawn Smith, Joseph Smith (Lil Joe), Daughter: Kenya Mason, Grandchildren – Pharahn Hairston, Kayla Ford, Jovian Johnson, Jorden Kelso, Great grandchild- Cerenity Johnson, all of Columbus and Newark, Ohio, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Her best friends.

Visitation 1:00 PM and Funeral Service 2:00 PM Friday, August 12, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd.). Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
