Annie Mae Damon

Annie Mae Damon, daughter of the late Fannie and Grandison Peterson Sr., was born on October 23, 1936 in Mayesville, South Carolina.
Annie Mae was a graduate of Dennis High School, in Bishopville, South Carolina. Shortly after completing high schooling: she married Roosevelt Damon Sr. on November 13, 1954. From that union five beautiful children were born: Roosevelt (Pop), Willie (red), Linton (Sam), Rebecca (Betty) and Sylvia.

To support her growing family; she worked as a hir dresser, curling styling and pressing hair, better than anyone in Mayesville. She was also an accomplished ear piercer. For a better life, she moved her family to New York and started her careers, at Princeton Laundry Cleaner. After many years of dedicated service she retired to spend more time with her family. Annie Mae was the heart of the family, and the glue that held the family together. She had a lively spirit and enjoyed spending time with her family. Sunday was family day. The family would gather at Annie Mae’s home for a good home cooked meal, card games and laughter. It would give the family time to cherish in memories of old; while creating new memories.

Later in life Annie Mae moved to South Carolina, reconnecting with family and friends from her childhood. Annie Mae joined First Church of Lord Jesus Christ in Florence South Carolina. She was baptized and was a faithful member until the onset of her recent illness. Throughout her illness, she still took pleasure in spending with her family.

Preceeding her in death is her husband, Roosevelt Damon Sr., son Linton (Sam) Damon, daughters, Rebecca (Betty) Scott, two brothers, Grandison Peterson Jr., Junior Peterson, two sisters in law Myrie Peterson and Ruby Jean Peterson, two daughters in law, Denise Damon and Elaine Damon.
