Anthony “Tony” Carreker Sr.

Anthony “Tony” Carreker Sr., a beloved resident of Akron, Ohio, peacefully passed away at home on April 22, 2024,
surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Tony leaves behind a cherished legacy.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Courtney Carreker. A loving father to Jevon Carreker, Anthony Carreker Jr., Cekoyia
Riechers, Kyia Carreker, Alayiah Carreker, and Jayden Walker. Tony was also a proud grandfather to Zayden, Isaiah Jr.,
Ava, Ze’Nyia, Armoni, and Jordyn. He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Ann Marie Carreker; brother, Eric Carreker; and his best friends, Derrick Moore, Nate Evans, DeShawn Butler, Darryl Johnson and many other family and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Carreker; father, James Carreker; sister, Sharon Gravely; and his son, Isaiah Jemison Carreker. He also joins his beloved grandparents, Richard and Fannie McSwain and his loving dog, Rain.

Tony was a man of unwavering faith and a dedicated family man. He approached life with a contagious enthusiasm,
always wearing a smile and singing along to his favorite songs. Tony’s love for sports, particularly football and basketball, brought him great joy. He had a talent for fixing and assembling things around the house, showcasing his handy skills.

Despite his children growing taller than him, Tony never missed an opportunity to playfully engage with them,
maintaining a strong and loving bond. He took great pride in his appearance and always made sure he presented himself
in the best possible way before stepping out of the house. One of Tony’s simple pleasures was sitting on the front porch, basking in the beauty of the world around him.

Visitation 9:00 AM and Funeral Service 10:00 AM Saturday, May 4, 2024 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd.).

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
