Antoine DeShawn “Singbaby” Tanyhill was born in Columbus, Ohio, on December 16, 1978, to Felicia Dalton and Reynaldo DeShawn Echols.

Shawn was raised by his loving grandparents, David and Geneva Tanyhill. During his early years, he attended Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church. As an adult, he made Mount Zion Baptist his church home.

Shawn was educated in the Columbus City school system and graduated from Independence High School. For the past three years, he worked as Lead Logistics Trainer at JC Penney Distribution Center. Shawn loved his work family, and his work family adored him.

Shawn was a friendly, happy young man with a big, open heart an outgoing personality. He was loved by all who knew him. He had a passion for baking and cooking. He took pride in preparing delicious meals to bring friends and family together. Shawn was an accomplished singer and sang with several different groups throughout the city. He took great pride in the care of his home and yard. He even had competitions with his neighbors for the best-manicured lawn. Shawn loved animals, especially cats and dogs. He had a special bond with his dog Kodi.

Shawn was preceded in death by his beloved grandfathers, Deacon David Tanyhill, Sr. and William T. Echols, grandmother Barbara Jean Berry, uncle Pastor David Tanyhill, Jr., and aunt Brenda (Curtis) Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his memory, parents Reynaldo DeShawn Echols and Felicia Dalton, loving grandmother Geneva Tanyhill, Sister Shonda Youngblood-Millner, Aunts Yvonne Echols Castleman, Evangelist Laura Tanyhill, and Bobbie (George) Hannah, uncles David (Melissa) Tanyhill III, Pastor Derrick (Nolita) Tanyhill, and Eric (Holly) Tanyhill, Cousins Leisan Echols, Monika (Chaz) Jefferson, and Raegan Jefferson, and a host of other great aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation 6:00 PM and Funeral Service 7:00 PM Friday, October 11, 2019 at Triedstone Bapitst Church, 858 E. 3rd. Ave.

Interment Saturday 10:30am at Eastlawn Cemetery.
