Arlene W. Weems

Arlene W. Weems, affectionately known as “Cookie”, age 73, transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Friday April 3, 2020.

Arlene W. Weems was born October 24th 1946 in Price Hill West Virginia. She was the daughter of Walter & Severna Smith and the oldest of nine living siblings, two deceased infant twin brothers.
Arlene was baptized at Price Hill Baptist Church at the age of 15 and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Arlene graduated from Stratton High School in Beckley WV in 1964. She went on to marry William K. Weems September 2nd 1965 In Montgomery AL. Out of this union they had 4 daughters; Tina, Kimberly, Melissa & Pamela.
Arlene was a very loving and devoted mother to her four girls. She would have bible study and prayer meeting with them weekly at her home. She taught her children how to pray and understand the importance of having a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Arlene also loved her grandchildren and she also taught them the importance of living right before The Lord.

Arlene was a devout member of the Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church for several years. Even though she couldn’t always attend she sent her tithes every month and kept in contact with various members via telephone.
Arlene allowed her light to shine every time she came in contact with anyone no matter where she was. She encouraged people she knew and those she didn’t know to pray and to give their lives to Jesus Christ. She was a praying woman who believed in the power of prayer. She prayed for everyone and expected that her prayer made it to God’s ear and prompted God to move by her faith. Arlene’s favorite song was “He’ll Welcome me” by John P. Kee. And we have the assurance that on April 3rd, the Angels came to her in that hospital room and escorted her into the presence of God and he said “Well done thy good and faithful servant.” Welcome home!

Arlene is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Serverna Smith and her grandmother Della Evans.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband William Weems; daughters, Tina Weems of Clarksville TN, Kimberly Hale of Columbus Ohio, Melissa McFadden (Charles) of Columbus Ohio and Pamela Weems of Columbus Ohio; Siblings: Leroy Smith (Mary), Clyde Smith, Robert Smith (Flora), Curtis Smith, Keith Smith (Connie), Sheryl Gray, Vanessa Swafford and Allison Smith; Grandchildren, Roger Harper, James Woods, Solomon Weems, Desiree Hale, Isaiah McFadden and Deja Hale; Great granddaughter; Ashari Clore; Honorary Sons, Hollis Woods and Stanley Hale; Honorary Daughter,Nira Pullien; and a host of other family and friends.
