He loved listening to one of his favorite singers Aretha Franklin, as well as the old and new gospel singers. He enjoyed reading his Bible and attending church service at Rehoboth Temple in Columbus, Ohio, when his health would allow.

Thinny faced many challenges and hardships during his lifetime and in his last month of life he wanted to express his gratitude to all his family and friends who stood by him during those years and for all the phone calls, cards, prayers and visits to see him this past year. He also wanted to thank those who provided medical service and comfort care to him for the past ten months. He especially wanted to extend a special thank you to the following family members who dedicated their time and personal assistance to him during his hospice care. He understood that they too were dealing with their own health issues as well; however, they still assisted him during his darkest days and critical time of need. Thank you to Joy Winbush (niece), Charmyne Nixon (sister) and his daughter Alethea Jordan, who worked together to transition him from his apartment into the nursing home and for comforting him until his final days of life.
