Arthur Abram

Arthur Abram, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2020 surrounded by his loving wife Sylvia Abram, sons Arthur Abram, Jr. and Joseph Gregory Abram.

Arthur was born December 27, 1959 to Georgia Mae Fleming and Joe Abram in Columbus, Ohio. Arthur attended Linden-McKinley and Central High schools. After graduation from Central High School, Arthur had a vast career with many different occupations, but his favorite career was being a CDL Driver for several businesses throughout Columbus.

Arthur met the love of his life Sylvia Abram (affectionately known by Arthur as “Lil Sylvie”, “Syl” or “Silvers”) in 1970 at an early age. As neighbors their childhood friendship blossomed into a lifelong love. They were married in 1999 and they had two sons, Arthur Abram, Jr. and Joseph Gregory Abram. Arthur and Sylvia spent 38 years loving one another growing closer and closer as a family. Arthur loved his wife’s cooking and baking. His favorite cake was the homemade German chocolate made by his wife with his mother Georgia Mae’s recipe.

Arthur had a cool, laid back and loving spirit. He was a family man above all, and he adored his wife and was very proud of his two sons. He worshiped his mother and he and his wife Sylvia served as caregivers to his mother for 11 years. Arthur loved Jesus and had his own personal relationship with the Lord.

Arthur loved mentoring youth and his passion was coaching youth football and basketball teams. He was a coach for over a decade for the Columbus Raiders Youth Football Team at the Mock Road Field. He coached his sons and nephews for the Gus Macker Tournament. His favorite pro team was the Las Vegas Raiders and his favorite college team was the Oklahoma Sooners. Arthur was an herbalist, he loved the casino, playing spades, grilling, and entertaining family and friends. He was a vivid storyteller and never met a stranger. Arthur could captivate and command a room with his presence.

Arthur is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Abram; mother, Georgia Mae Abram Fleming; grandmother, Louise Garrett; brother, Joseph Abram, Jr; and aunt, Pearl Franklin.
