Bester Young

Bester was born December 14, 1939, in Tuscaloosa Alabama. After graduating from Druid High School, he joined the US Airforce where he did initial training in Texas and was stationed in the Philippines for 18 months where he proudly served until receiving his honorable discharge. The Airforce is what landed him in Columbus, Ohio to begin his new life.

Bester worked many different jobs, but the one he was most proud of was working for The Ohio State University. He was employed there for over 20 yrs. and retired once he began to have health issues.

Bester was full of life! He loved to laugh, tell stories about his family growing up, his time in the military and working at Ohio State. He was an avid reader and loved to read anything regarding history, He also enjoyed reading his Bible daily and his favorite Bible verse was Psalms 91, he loved fishing, Alabama Football, and the Cleveland Browns, he enjoyed watching old Western movies. Let him tell it he was the always the smartest person in any room and did not have a problem with letting you know how smart he was.

Bester’s favorite saying was “Say what you mean and mean what you say”. We will all miss his laughter his storytelling, and just his presence, we know he is now in a better place, No more pain, no more dialysis, test, or hospital visits. He fought the good fight and kept the faith all the way to the end, and we are grateful for his 82 years of life.
