The Hess family announces the forthcoming celebration of the life of their beloved Betty Jean Hess, born on September 27, 1940, in Brownsville, TN, a devoted nurse from Mansfield, Ohio. Betty's earthly journey reached completion on July 7, 2024, due to natural causes.


Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Josephine Hess; siblings Linda Hess (her best friend), John Hess, James Hess, Leo Hess, and Michael Hess. 


Betty will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family. Leaving behind two brothers Earl Lee Hess and Robert Henry Hess, and a host of nieces and nephews including Leo and Robbie who were also her caretakers. Betty's legacy will forever live on in their hearts. Betty will also be remembered by her friends Melissa and Isaac. 


A graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, Betty's passion for caring for others led her to earn an Associate's Degree in Nursing. She dedicated numerous years of her life to serving patients at both a nursing facility and a doctor's office, touching countless lives with her compassion and skill.


In her leisure, Betty found joy in watching Joyce Myers Ministries, engaging in games of chance with the lottery, spending countless hours figuring out her numbers and cherishing moments spent with family. She shared a special bond with her nieces and nephews, whom she treated as her own children. Known for her outspoken nature and unwavering honesty, Betty was unafraid to express herself, yet her love and kindness shone through in every interaction.


Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Wednesday July 17, 2024, at Marlan J. Gary Funeral Home, The Chapel of Peace Mansfield (formerly Williams Funeral Services) 753 McPherson St. Betty's final resting place will be at Mansfield Cemetery.


As we gather to celebrate Betty's remarkable life, let us remember her laughter, her love, and her unwavering spirit. She may be gone from our sight, but her memory will forever remain etched in our hearts. In her legacy, may we find the strength to carry on her kindness and compassion, spreading love as she did throughout her lifetime.
