Betty J. Agnew

Betty J. Agnew, age 87. Sunrise June 28, 1931 and Sunset January 15, 2019.
Betty Jean Sullivan Agnew went home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 15, 2019 after a courageous eleven month battle with cancer. Betty was born in Baldwyn, Mississippi on June 28, 1931, one of eight children to the late Mr. Jessie and Mrs. Georgia Sullivan.

Betty was raised and educated in Mississippi. She met and married Bernice Agnew and from this union was born two sons, Bernie and Robin Agnew and one daughter, Betty Ann Agnew. Her husband Bernice was a member of the Air Force and the family traveled extensively to Morocco, South Africa, Germany and many other countries. The Agnew’s settled in Columbus, Ohio, were Bernice was stationed at Lockbourne AFB (now known as Rickenbacker). Betty remained in the same home for over forty-eight years.

Betty retired from Children’s Hospital following seventeen years of service in the dietary Department. If you knew Betty, you would not forget her beautiful blue eyes. She was a quiet spirit who loved her family, her home, spiritual music, soft jazz, and was an excellent cook. Betty’s family wanted to share that she was loving, kind, generous, and had a keen sense of humor. She had a wealth of wisdom when it came to her knowledge of historical and current events. Betty was an avid reader, especially of her Bible, until her eyesight was hindered by glaucoma.

Betty was a faithful member of Hosack Street Baptist Church for over 25 years. Her life was enriched by her love for God, her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

Betty is predeceased by her parents; one son, Bernie Agnew; two grandsons, Robert Agnew and Abraham Isaac Cundiff; four sisters and one brother. She is survived by daughter Betty Cundiff of Arizona; son, Robin Agnew of the Philippines; sisters Louise Brown of Detroit, Michigan, and Edwina (Albert) Grice of Baldwyn, Mississippi; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, relatives, and lifelong friends; and her cat CoJo.

Betty will be dearly missed by all who were blessed by her presence. Betty’s prayer for each one is that our souls will be saved so we can meet in heaven.
