Bishop Charles Sims

Bishop Charles Sims, Jr. was the second child of three children. He was born May 19, 1952 to Charlie and Tommie Lee Jefferson-Sims. He left this earthly life on May 26, 2018.

Bishop Charles Sims was pastor of St. Philip Lutheran Church in Gary, Indiana; Missouri Synod for 35 years. Bishop Charles received his bachelor’s degree from the legendary Bishop College in Dallas, Texas. He also attended the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, Illinois.

 Bishop Charles is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Tommie Lee Jefferson-Sims, brother Cornelius Sims, and sister Emma Willis.

 He leaves to cherish his memory with his wife of 47 years Minister Wilma Sims, 13 children Charles (Cynthia) III, Jermaine (Tracy), Calvonzo Rowell from Columbus, Ohio., Taylor, Alexandra, Jamila, Yvonne, Latoya Pye of Indiana, Deryana (Brandon) of Rochester, New York, grandchildren Jazmin, Jamie, Alaysia, Michaela, Mariyah, Jermaine Jr., Michael, Braydon Meyer, Brielle, Aniyah Robinson, Dyshon Robinson, Sativa Rowell, Latesia Jung, Ka’Niyah Griffin, LaKayla Griffin, Mashay Griffin, and Don’asia Smith, also a host of other relatives and friends.

Bishop Charles will be sincerely missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.

Visitation 9:00am and Funeral 10:00am Saturday, June 9, 2018, at New Hope Community Church 4034 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery.
