In Loving Memory of Bobby Hess
A Life Well-Lived
It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Bobby Hess, a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. Bobby passed away on February 10, 2025, in his home in Lawrenceville, Georgia at the age of 64.
Bobby was born April 7, 1960, in Mansfield, Ohio. He was the cherished son of Robert Hess and Willa Mingle, who instilled in him the values of family. Bobby's early years were marked by his love for fishing, wrestling, and listening to music.
Bobby was a student of Mansfield City Schools. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army in 1979. After his Honorable medical discharge from the Army in 1982, he returned home to his family and friends. Life was not always perfect, but he met all of life's challenges with the resilience of a warrior. Bobby loved his family and was a people person who never met a stranger. He was a friend to so many who crossed his path.
Bobby's legacy is one of love. He leaves behind a family that will forever cherish his memory and a community that is richer for having known him.
Bobby is survived by a loving family: his mother Willa Mingle of Douglasville Ga; his daughter Gwendolyn Rowe of Columbus Oh; his grandsons Jelani Williams, Jelante' Williams, and Jaylin Wiley of Columbus Oh; his brothers Reginald Hess of Douglasville Ga, Steven (Tavia) Bragg of Grayson Ga, Robbie Hess of Westerville Oh, Randy Bragg of Mansfield Oh; sisters Ty (Arris) Ford of Douglasville Ga, Gilia Hess of Acworth Ga, Jackie (Curtis) Caldwell of Mansfield Oh; his uncle Earl (Sylvia) Hess of Ontario Oh; his aunt Queen (JC) Gardner of Valdosta Ga; his stepfather who he lovingly called "Pop" of East Point Ga; Special and close friends Michael Shields, Brenda Lyte, Jackie Lee Jackson, Brian Jackson, Anthony Robinson, Ronnie Menard and Greg Porter; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his father; his brother Vincent Hess Sr; his sister Phyllis Bragg; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Homegoing service will be held Saturday, February 22nd at 10:00am at the New Community Temple COGIC at 338 Harker St. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Curtis and Jackie Caldwell, 1150 Pearce Drive, Mansfield Oh 44906 from 7pm to 9pm on Friday, February 21st.
