Brandon L. “Juice” Scott

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brandon Lynne Scott, 39 a beloved son, father, brother, grandson, uncle, and friend. Brandon, affectionately known as Juice, was born on November 8th, 1984 in Columbus, Ohio, and went Home to be with the Lord on Friday February 9, 2024.

A proud graduate of The Linden McKinley High School Class of 2003, Brandon was a true all-star, excelling in football, baseball, and basketball. His talent and dedication on the field earned him the honor of being crowned Prom King, a testament to his infectious charm and charismatic presence.

Brandon’s spiritual journey began at an early age within the walls of Friendship Baptist Church, where he discovered his passion for music. As a member of the church choirs, his soulful voice echoed through the sanctuary, bringing joy to all who were fortunate enough to hear him sing. Recently, he joined The City of Zion Church under the leadership of Pastor Elgin Orton, enthusiastically embracing the youth ministry and participating in the Iron Men Ministry. Brandon’s unwavering faith inspired and uplifted those around him.

Known for his warm and friendly nature, Brandon had an uncanny ability to make others laugh. He was a natural comedian, a master of wit, and always brought a smile to the faces of those in his presence. His infectious laughter will forever echo in our memories, bringing comfort in times of sorrow.

In addition to his educational accomplishments, Brandon was a hardworking laborer in the warehouse industry, employed by FedEx. He was committed to his work and held in high regard by his colleagues. His determination and dedication were truly commendable.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Brandon indulged in his love for art, finding solace in creating beautiful drawings and heartfelt poems. His dream of opening an art gallery showcased his visionary spirit and love for self-expression. Brandon’s incredible talent extended to his impeccable calligraphy, which showcased his attention to detail and love for the written word.

As a devoted sports fan, Brandon passionately cheered on his beloved Ohio State University Football team and was an unwavering supporter of the Dallas Cowboys. His enthusiasm and infectious team spirit brought joy and camaraderie to every game day gathering.

Brandon leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his mother Minister Sharlene Marshall, father Elder Sean D. (Angela) Marshall. children, Khalil, Janaya, Grace, Taylor, and Dereon, sisters, DeMeeshia Marshall and Jaylah Marshall, brother, Shay (Djuana) Okotete, nephews DaMonte and DaMari, niece Aidyn, and grandparents Georgia Okotete, Carl Marshall, and Loretta Westmoreland , mother of his children, Ronada Burgess and Paula Yates, sister in law, Toy Okotete, special friends Tommy, Kris, Ryan, Reggie, Kevin, Brandon, Tim and James and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Brandon was preceded in death by his father, Olushagun Okotete, brother De’Angelo Okotete, grandmothers Gracie Mae Taylor and Mary Marshall; grandfathers Rev. Wetzel Taylor Sr. and Charles Scott and uncle Wetzel Taylor Jr.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00 noon, Monday February 19th, 2024, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1775 West Broad St.

Brandon’s departure leaves a void in our lives, but his memory will forever remain etched in our hearts. May we find solace in the joy and laughter he shared, and may his legacy serve as a reminder to live each day to the fullest, embracing our passions and spreading love to all we encounter.

Rest in eternal peace, dear Brandon. Your light will forever illuminate our lives.
