Brent Delaine Carr

Brent Carr, 46, of Columbus, Ohio, departed this world on Sunday, April 15, 2018. He grew up in Southfield. Attended Marion Franklin High School and graduated from Eastmoor High School.

Atlanta, Georgia was his next stop,where he worked in the hospitality industry.He thenmoved to San Bernardino Valley, California where he worked with the HIV positive communityas a peer counselor and advocated for HIV education and prevention. He was passionate about LGBTQ issues and concerns.He graduated from the Eleanor Jean Grier Leadership Academy of the Riverside African-American Historical Society in Riverside, California.  He returned to Columbus in 2015 to be closer to family and friends.

He loved being with family and friends, listening to music, dancing, people watching and having a good time.You could always count on Brent to be there for you no matter where he was at or what he was doing. He was known for always putting others needs first. Brent never met a stranger and was never at a loss for words. His style was always a great conversation starter. His hair, his hair, his hair… enough said!  After his hair was gone…his hats, his hats, his hats…period!

He is proceeded in death by Teresa Carr(mother) and Kinsel Peyton (father), grandparents Lottie and Thomas Carter, Betty and Robert Drake, Lillie and Jim Williams, and Cheltz and Edna Peyton.  He is survived by stepmother Kemba Nzinga; siblings – Tonya (Willie) Frasier, Chana (Derrick) Russell, Andre (Jessie) Carr, Kalonji (Chetna Mehta) Nzinga, Nalo (Chad) Wise, Carole Mitchell and Nicole Mitchell; nieces Andrea Frasier, Jasmin Frasier, Cecilia Carr, Olivia Carr, Kennedy Dulaney and nephew Chad Wise Jr., God-children Larry Hutson Jr, DaJuan Hutson, and Terrea Stewart.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00pm Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Marlan J. Gary Funeral Home, The Chapel of Peace North, 2500 Cleveland Ave.
