Reflections of Life
Carolyn Alexander Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and cherished friend departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Carolyn, affectionately known as "Pug", was born on June 17, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio. She was the youngest child of the late Mattie and Chester Alexander. She grew up in Columbus and received her education through the Columbus Public School System. Carolyn was raised in a Christian home and spent many days attending church and participating in church activities. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Pool of Bethesda Church of The Living God where she was a devoted member for many years.
Carolyn was the mother of two beautiful daughters, Tina Marie and Kimberley Kay; and three handsome sons, David, Harry, Lenell (Sonny) and Chris Omar Sharif. During her early adulthood years Carolyn was married to Harry L. Hawkins. And during this time, rather than pursue a career, she became a homemaker, devoting her time to raising her children. Dedicated to even the smallest of details, she utilized her sewing talent to make dresses. She was also a self-taught hairstylist, sharing her talent with many friends and family members who were delighted in her ability to make them look like they had just stepped out of the beauty salon. After some time, Carolyn met the love of her life, Ollie Williams, after many years of courtship, they were joined in marriage and shared their love and their lives together, until the time of his death in 2006.
Anyone that knew Carolyn, knew she loved to sing! In the 1970's she and her sisters formed the gospel singing group called the Alexander Sisters. They sang together for many years, lifting up the glorious name of the Lord! Carolyn also loved church! She was an active and longtime member of Holy Ghost Revival Center, under the Pastoral Leadership of Pastor Betty Hairston and Pastor Michael Perrin. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Praise Team and in 2010, she became a Licensed Missionary.
Carolyn was a woman of distinction, glamour, and impeccable fashion! And she loved to Shop! No matter the occasion, Carolyn was always, ALWAYS dressed to impress! Carolyn was a kind & sweet lady who was full of personality. She was a cherished and longtime member of the Eldon & Elsie Ward & Family YMCA. She regularly participated in many senior activities including water exercises & the Silver Sneakers. She was also a member of the Senior Line Dance Class and wouldn't hesitate to step to the front during their performances in the community. Carolyn loved her family and absolutely loved family gatherings. She especially enjoyed sharing a good meal with her children& grandchildren. Carolyn was loved and adored by her family and was a friend to many. She will be greatly missed.
