Cassandra G Allen-Houpe

On October 28, 2022, early morning, Cassandra G. Allen-Houpe (Sandi) answered the call of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Cassandra was born on May 21, 1965, in Columbus, Ohio to the union of A.C. Allen and Rose Mary Thomas Allen.

Cassandra was a graduate of Columbus Beechcroft High School and attended Franklin University. Sandi was a faithful and resolute member of the Saint Luke Baptist Church for 38 years. She was baptized in 1976 by Rev. Cortrell Terry. She knew Jesus was her friend, she frequently communicated with her savior during her illness.

Prior to her illness, Sandi served as the church clerk, financial secretary, printed media coordinator, and as a member of the women’s fellowship ministry.

To characterize Sandi, words such as quiet, learner, steady, giving, strong-spirited, warrior, fighter, courageous, and, most of all, loving, can all be used. Although shy by nature, Sandi, from an early age, was able to provide a patient and listening ear and found joy in engaging with others to help them along their individual paths toward achievement.

Sandi believed and followed Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.”  She would courageously take on new challenges in her life knowing the Lord would protect and deliver her with His favor.

She is preceded in death by grandparents; Wille Mae Hughes, Horace and Mary Thomas, aunts; Doris Lipson, Edna Thomas, Patricia Bogan and Geraldine Polidore.

Sandi’s life was full and blessed. She leaves to cherish her memories a very devoted, loving, and caring husband; Roderick K. Houpe Sr., a loving and supportive son; Brandon Allen (Lauren Gleeson), Pastor A.C. Allen and First-Lady Rose Allen, brothers; Jerrell (Angela) Rucker, Arnold Craig Allen, sister; Stephanie (Nathaniel) Rayford, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and the Saint Luke Baptist Church Family.

Visitation 10am and Funeral 11am Thursday November 3, 2022 at MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn north on Lonsdale Rd.). Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
