Cathy Simpson was born on August 16, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio. She transitioned in peace and prevailed past earthly expectations and passed on October 22, 2024, at Ohio State University Medical Center, the James Cancer Center.
Cathy was the second oldest of seven children born to Johnny and Cathelene Cook. She was like the second mother to her sister and brothers helping to raise and care for their needs.
In 1972, she married Gary Lee Moore. Born to her were two beautiful children, Shirita, and Andre. She was a devoted mother to many more close relatives than her own children throughout the years. Cathy was also the proud grandmother of Naudia, D'Angelo, and Andre Cook and a host of great grandchildren who were the light of her life. Cathy loved the Lord and was an involved member of her church. Cathy retired from General Motors in 2006 with 30 years of service. Cathy was also a pillar of the community working at the Parsons Avenue Free Store in her retirement years. She held her arms open for anyone that needed grace or was in a time of need.
Cathy was preceded in death by her late husband Bennie Simpson, father Johnny Cook, Mother Cathelene Cook, siblings Frankie, Larry, Randy, and Bobbie Rochelle Cook. She will be sadly missed by her loving family: siblings Michael and Johnny Cook; children Shirita and Andre (Whitney) Cook; grandchildren, Naudia, D'Angelo, and Andre; five great-grandchildren, and a vast number of relatives, friends, and many others that shared her love as a mother and grandmother.
