Charles Franklin Fields

November 19, 1944 — October 21, 2024

Charles Franklin Fields was born November 19, 1944, to the union of William A. Fields Sr. and Estella E. Fields. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a devoted trustee at Mt. Zion until his failing health. He always believed in his favorite scripture, Matthew 7:1-3 “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”

Charles, or 'Charlie' as he was affectionately known, was a proud product of Columbus public city schools, graduating from East High School. He then dedicated himself to the workforce, joining the Fields Brothers Masonry under the leadership of his father and brother. His commitment led him to the PSB (Porcelain Steel Builders) company associated with the White Castle System, where he retired in 2005 after 40 years of service. On July 15, 1967, he and JoAnn were united in marriage, a union that lasted 57 years and was blessed with two daughters and two sons.

Charles cherished a life filled with love and laughter, often spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed travel cruises, car shows, and was a dedicated health enthusiast, involved in Shaklee products for many years. His love extended to his grandchildren, with whom he shared many precious moments. Charles transitioned from labor to reward at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the age of 79 years and 11 months.

Charles is preceded in death by his father, Williams A. Fields Sr., his mother, Estella E. Fields, and brothers, Williams A. Fields Jr. and Ronald E. Fields.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory, lovely, devoted, and supportive wife, JoAnn Fields; daughters, Antoinette Kennedy and Maia (James) Pope; sons, Craig (Sarah) Fields and Kwame A. Fields, Sr; daughter-in-law, Mekia Fields; a devoted sister, Janice E. Bosley; devoted sisters-in-law, Earlene Fields and Mary R. Trimble; brother-in-law, John H. Brannon; 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren, his only living uncle, Carl (Beverly) Fields; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family, and friends.
