Charlotte Y. Price, a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and “Nana”, transitioned on February 26, 2025 at the age of 68. She was born to Preston and Rebecca Buckley on March 7, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Charlotte’s early years were spent between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Wenonah, New Jersey. She matriculated through the Deptford Township school system and graduated from Deptford Township High School in 1974. She went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Delaware State University and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University, both in Education. During her time at Delaware State University, she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. After settling in Columbus, she met and married Larry Price on June 16, 1984 at Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church and two daughters Lenise (deceased) and Angela were born to this union.
She was a dedicated educator who remained in the classroom for over 25 years. She specialized in Special Education and even continued to tutor students well after her retirement. She worked at numerous schools within the Columbus City School System such as Indianola, Clearbrook, and South High School as well as many years in the I-Pass program at North Adult. She was a Nationally Board-Certified Teacher and was proud to be one of few to receive this certification.
Charlotte’s spiritual journey began at an early age when she accepted Christ into her heart. She was baptized at age 8 by Reverend D.W. Beauford at New Hope Temple Baptist Church in South Philadelphia. After moving to Columbus, she became a dedicated and faithful member of Triedstone Missionary Baptist Church. Her service to Triedstone was extensive and impactful. She was Woman of the Year at Triedstone in 1989. Charlotte was the first Sunday School teacher for many of the “Triedstone babies”, teaching the preschool class and eventually high school class. Until her last day, she was the sitting Superintendent of the Sunday School and even in sickness never missed a virtual Sunday school session. She was also active in Children’s Band as a teacher and organizer of plays and programs for many years. She was a member and former Lead Servant of the Deaconess Board.
Outside of her church family, she developed a love for scrapbooking and joined the Spirited Scrappers. She engaged in numerous book clubs and bible studies and loved to spend time with her family. Most notably, she loved to engage in activities and trips with her Sorors and dedicate time to furthering the mission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, Preston, her brother, Hilton Buckley, her daughter, Lenise Price and her special mother, Beulah Stovall.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication: her husband, Elder Larry Price, daughter, Angela Price, step-daughter, Tanikka Price, adopted sons, Jason, Stefan and Christopher Dunn and special mentee, Ieshia Black. She is survived by her mother Rebecca Buckley and sister, Linda Buckley. Continuing to keep her memory alive are also a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, cousins and friends.
