Clara E. Wiley

Clara E. Wiley, 72, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Clara was born January 6, 1948 in Columbus, OH. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles E. Wiley Sr. and parents Ara Taylor and William Terrell (Daddy Bill). She was a beautiful woman inside and out with a sweet, caring nature for everyone she came in contact with. She would get so many compliments about her natural green eyes that set her apart from others.
She was a God-fearing wife, loving mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed going to church and learning the word of God. Clara enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoyed going to the movies and listening to music. When she was young, she enjoyed dancing, ballet and roller skating at Roller Land (grown folk talk). She continued to dance throughout her days on earth. Growing up, Clara did not have any biological sisters or brothers, so she found her lifelong sister friends with Evelyn, Alice, and Sharon. In her 30’s, her biological sister, Elsie Miller was born.

When Clara and Evelyn were young, they would get into a lot of mischief. Clara and Evelyn would sneak out of church to go to the corner store to spend their offering money on candy. The jaw breakers they bought tasted so good until they got caught when they got back to church. Let’s just say that was the last time they took a trip like that. Clara would travel as she got older. Clara, Evelyn, Sharon and their husbands would go on trips in Sharon’s RV. The husbands would fish and the women would laugh, drink and share stories. Clara enjoyed traveling with her family on cruises, visiting Walt Disney World, other parts of Florida, Virginia, California, Texas, etc.

The love of her life was Charles Wiley. When they were young, they use to ride around in a powder blue Buick. Her favorite restaurant was Red Lobster. She loved her family and friends and would do anything for them. She had a kind heart and welcomed everyone into the family. But don’t cross her, because she would also handle busy when needed.

Clara and Charles met in 1966 where they became good friends and ten years later married. Clara and Charles of 44 years are now together in heaven, relaxing, dancing and looking after the family. Clara is survived by her sister Elsie Miller of Columbus, daughters, Ara Lincoln of Columbus, Katherine (Gerald) Newson and Tina (Gregory) Fossie of Nashville, TN; Latonia (Steven) Bell of Dickson, TN; sons, Jeffrey Lamont Corlew and Charles (Twila) Wiley Jr. of Columbus and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
