Collins Eberhardt

Collins Eberhardt born November 27, 1932 to the late Clyde and Elizabeth Jackson-Eberhardt.

Collins attended East High School. He became a member of Mt. Period Missionary Baptist Church September 6, 1983, under the pastorate of Rev J. Matthew Carter, Sr. He served as a Trustee, an Usher, a member of the Scholarship committee and other ministries throughout the years.

From Elementary school age Collins was a hard worker. He would pick up ice or coal that fell off the train box cars and would sell it door to door, pulling his little red wagon. He helped neighborhood ladies with their groceries for a nickel. He set up pins at the Olympic Bowling Lanes, short order cook at Howard Johnsons, at Broad and James. As a young man he worked on the railroad, Shenago Furnace, and Columbus Metal Forge as a welder.

Collins later went on to own his own Painting Company and painted into his 70’s. He retired from the American Red Cross in 1997, where he received Awards of Appreciation, Employee of the Month, and Employee of the year in 1986.

Collins was an avid bowler with five perfect games (300) to his credit and many awards for high games and leagues wins. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his buddies.

Collins was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clyde; and son, Steve. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 30 years, Sandra K. Kaylor-Eberhardt; sister, Loretta Eberhardt Richardson; sister in law, Francis Bush Eberhardt; sons, Brian, Kevin, and Ethan; daughters, Coleen and Nannette; step-sons, Tony-Anthony Howard, Danny and Charles Hunter, Elvin (Rachael) Pinckney; step-daughter, Sandy Hunter; grandchildren, Stephanie, Brandy, Mika, Charrisse, Raphael, Mannette Eberhardt, Xavier and Alivia Pinckney; three great-grands; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Tina and Jackie; longtime fishing and hunting buddy, Richard Thompson; and his Mt.
