Cordell Tatney

February 5, 1996 — September 16, 2024

Cordell Jerome Tatney blessed the world with his earthside arrival on Monday February 5th, 1996. He was the Grand Finale of the fantastic four born to the union of Michael and Chentrel Tatney. While they both were born in the small town of Plaquemine, Louisiana; Cordell and his siblings were born and reared in Columbus, Ohio. This however, did not keep him from having a true love for his Louisiana roots.

Just like his father, he was one of few fans of the Michigan wolverines as well as them both sharing a love for the New Orleans Saints. After his attendance of Brookhaven High School, Cordell moved to his parents hometown for nearly 4 years. Family was EVERYTHING to him, and it brought so much happiness to his life being surrounded by those that meant most. Upon transitioning back to Ohio, Cordell met and fell in love with his devoted girlfriend, Jasmine Griffin. Together they welcomed two incredible boys: their pride- Jasiah Michael Wayne Tatney (3), and joy- Jahkeem Lionel Tatney (1). Fatherhood was a role that both came naturally to Cordell, and the thing he took most seriously. His commitment to prioritize, protect and provide for the family he created earned him the title of "Mr. Make It Happen," by his spouse. They remained his driving force for any and every thing Cordell accomplished. He was gainfully employed at Davey Tree Service; a job that he loved. During his 2 year employment, Cordell expanded his knowledge of the lawncare industry and looked forward to growing within the company. Although most times quiet and reserved, Cordell embodied boldness, fearlessness, and loyalty all while being humorous, fun loving and kind hearted.

He loved hard, and was always present with the willingness to support anyone special to him. Most recently Cordell was beyond ecstatic to attend the upcoming wedding of his sister Lasha to her fiance Derrick. April 2025 couldn't come fast enough for him to witness them wed in Holy Matrimony. Painfully, Cordell won't have the honor of being physically present.

On Monday September 16th, 2024 Cordell released his last exhale at the tender age of 28 years old. He was welcomed into eternity with open arms by his grandmother's Barbara Willis and Carolyn Tatney-Woods, grandfather Jasper Woods Sr., as well as aunts and uncles that proceeded him in passing. Those left to mourn his passing and passionately embrace his remembrance are his loving parents Michael and Chentrel Tatney, grandfather Lionel Willis, sons Jasiah and Jahkeem Tatney, supporting spouse Jasmine Griffin, 3 older and admirably protective siblings Christopher (Sierra Hanks) Tatney, Miesha Tatney, and Malasha (Derrick Johnson) Tatney; nieces Sharleigh Tatney, Jordyn Gibson and Kamryn Bryant; nephews Chris Tatney Jr., Myles Bryant, Sayvion Tatney, and Dakari Johnson all of which affectionately referred to Cordell as Uncle Worm. Honorary big brother and birthday twin born 365 days apart; Rogers Tatney II, along with a vast array of aunts, uncles, cousins and select friends. Cordell was and is STILL a hero; not a victim. His Earthly presence will be sorely missed and eternally evident. There is a tangible impact on all that were fortunate enough to encounter his life.
