Cristy Lynn Schlientz, age 69. Sunrise October 19, 1951 and Sunset October 11, 2021.

Cristy Lynn Schlientz was born to the late Charles and Maxine Schlientz in North Platte, Nebraska. She attended Lexington public schools and graduated from Lexington Senior High School in 1969. Cristy attended and received her undergraduate degree in Music from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1974. Cristy also acquired her Masters of Human Development degree from the University of Kansas in 1990.

Cristy’s professional career started at Boystown in Omaha, Nebraska in 1974, serving children from the State child welfare system. Cristy’s career spanned 43 years in various roles from direct care services provider; to middle and senior management; to executive director; and finally as entrepreneur/business owner of Innovative Teaching Systems. Through Cristy’s work countless numbers of children and families involved in the child welfare system have been positively impacted. Numerous nonprofit and children’s services organizations and professionals received training, consultation, and tutelage in methods to enhance their work with children and families placed and/or served. Cristy’s work and influence spanned the United States.

Cristy was beloved and brought joy to everyone with whom she had contact. She believed that every person had worth and always looked for the good in everyone. Cristy’s charisma, smile, and laughter lit up a room. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Maxine Schlientz. Cristy leaves to cherish her memory Husband, Robert S. “Bud” Milner in Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Charly (Kiley) James, and grandchildren, Wyatt and Savanna in Nebraska; daughter and son-in-law, Amy (Matthew) Felumlee and grandchildren, Harper and Sawyer in Colorado.
Stepson and daughter-in-law, Robert S. (Meshai) Milner Jr.; step grandchildren: Nakila with step great grandchild, Nilen in Wyoming and Tyshai in Michigan. Stepson, Andre L. Milner, in Ohio.
Sisters and brothers-in-law; Teri Vasko, Toni (Larry) Smith, Kelly (Steven) Thomalla, in Nebraska. Brother; Kent (Val) Schlientz in Utah., many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins in Nebraska.

Mother-in-law, Pastor Daisy L. Milner, sisters and brother-in-law, Lois Spurlock, David Milner, Janice (Jeff) Fluellen, Angelique Sutton. many step-nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

Cristy will be remembered for the love she had for her immediate and extended family. She will also be remembered by a host of friends and professional colleagues, and the contributions she has made improving the lives of children and families throughout her life and career.

Private Visitation 1:00 PM and Private Memorial Service 2:00 PM Friday, October 29, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd).
