Cynthia Lynne Ross

November 28, 1961 — February 5, 2025

Columbus

UCynthia Lynne Ross, born November 28, 1961, peacefully passed away on February 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy. Cynthia was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Francis Ross, I and Loretta Ross, and grew up surrounded by the warmth and support of her family.

Cynthia’s passion for sports shone through early in her life, having played both softball and tennis during her time at South High School. As an adult, she went on to win multiple tennis championships through the Dupage Tennis Club in Illinois, a testament to her drive and determination. Upon receiving her degree from Akron University, she began working for DCSC and shortly after transferred to Chicago to work in information technology with Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital for 41 years.

Her love for adventure took her all over the world. From the beautiful beaches of the Virgin Islands and Aruba to the towering skyscrapers of Dubai and the picturesque landscapes of Hawaii, Cynthia’s travels knew no bounds. She cherished these experiences, and they were always made better when shared with her family, as they embarked on countless journeys together.

Cynthia was more than just an avid traveler; she was a generous soul who found joy in giving. She found great fulfillment in helping others, from donating clothes to Faith Mission to serving at the Central Ohio Pirates football concessions. She also had a deep appreciation for family and tradition, and it was Cynthia who started the cherished "Family Gathering" tradition, which has since become an annual celebration of love and togetherness.

In addition to her family and philanthropic pursuits, Cynthia had a tight-knit circle of friends who held a special place in her heart. She loved spending time with her beloved “Golden Girls” – Pam, Dolisa, and Skie. Cynthia’s free-spirited nature also extended to her creative side; she was known for her talent in drawing and had an innate ability to bring joy to those around her through her artistic expressions.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Ross, I and Loretta Wilson; stepfather, Jack Wilson; her brother, Francis Ross, II; nephew, Enrique Ross; and special friend, Dolisa Towns Hillmon. She is survived by her siblings, Gina Smith (Russell), Henry Ross, Mark Wilson (Maria), Karl Wilson, Francis Leon Ross, III (Bryana), and bonus brother, Robert DeJarnette (Dori). She is also survived by her special cousins, Jennifer “Tutu” Otchere, Natalie Murphy (Davis), as well as her special friends, Pam Morris, Foronda “Skie” Hall, and Theresa Bland. Cynthia’s love lives on through her special niece, Ashley Wilson, and a host of cherished nieces and nephews.

While we mourn the loss of Cynthia’s presence, we take comfort in the memories of her radiant spirit. Her love for family, her adventurous heart, and her kind and generous nature will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Rest in peace, Cynthia. Your legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will never be forgotten.
