Darrell Lennale McKee was born on November 14, 1964 in Columbus, Ohio. He attended East Linden Elementary, Weiland Park, Mifflin Junior High, and Brookhaven High School, where he not only graduated, but was on the basketball team. Darrell was also an Army Veteran.
Darrell was active in church in his early years, and baptized by Rev. Al Mason. He sang in the Houstonian Choir which was directed by Rev. Charles Houston. Darrell was employed by United Methodist Children’s Home, Buckeye Ranch, Circleville Juveniles Corrections where he retired then later at Maryhaven where he was a social worker. He helped to organize the Pyramid Club, which was a club that helped people with alcohol and drug addictions.
Darrell was a person that was always ready to help everyone. He was the type of person who would give you his last penny and the clothes off his back. Darrell was known for always having a smile on his face, ready to make you laugh and have fun. Darrell over many years enjoyed playing cards with his friends and coaching little league football.
Darrell is preceded in death by his father, Burney Jackson Sr.; his grandparents, Earl and Nannie McKee; and his late wife, Daphne “Sherae” McKee.
He is survived by his mother, Ollie Rogers; wife, Shauna White McKee; children, Sherita (Henry) Qualls, Janae Jordan, Taron Jordan Sr., and Majanique White; grandchildren, Myonna, Aniyah, Amirah, Henry Jr., Samiya, Amara, and Taron Jr.; sisters, LaTonda (William) Dukes, and Tracy Jackson Edmonds; brothers, Jasen Jackson and Burney Jackson Jr.; niece, LaKia McKee; nephews, LeJuan McKee and D’Andre McKee; aunt, Clarissa McKee; uncle, Arthur McKee; mother-in-law, Antoinette White; and longtime friend, Larry Mallory along with a host of other family members and many friends.
