David Bradshaw

David Aaron Bradshaw was born August 17, 1956 to the union of George Embry Bradshaw and Roberta Haygood Bradshaw in Lexington, Kentucky.

David accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by his pastor, Rev. Mack Robert Jackson. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E Church in Nicholasville, Kentucky where he was active in the youth choir and Sunday school.

At the age of 14, he moved with family to Columbus, Ohio where he became a member of Mt. Vernon Avenue A.M.E Church. He completed his education in the Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Marion Franklin High School. He later graduated from Kent State University.

David was a retiree from AT&T after 30 plus years of service. He had many, many friends that he spoke to on a regular basis with from the Columbus, Ohio and Kansas City, Missouri offices.

Although David had many friends, he held dear his friends, Carla Robinson, Robert Thomas, Tony Haslet, Tony Howard, Shareen and Ron West.

David loved fashion and was a gifted tailor. In addition to that, he loved to cook and create various dishes for friends and family. He was well known for his bourbon balls that he made every holiday and took pride that so many requested them. For those closest to David, everyone knew his outspokenness and candor. He had a love for his younger cousins; Leah Jennings, Dwayne Bradshaw Jr., Kyrah Gayle, and twins Maya and Jordan Chenault, all of whom adored him.

He was known affectionately as uncle David to his God children Nae-nae and Michael Smithers, Ryan Hairston Sr., Ryan Hairston Jr., Antonah Lejoy and Kellie Marie Smithers. Cousins and God children all called him “Uncle David.”

For those who knew David, he was an avid Aretha Franklin fan. He called her the queen and considered her the undisputed benchmark of music. He constantly played her music and felt like no one compared or even measured up to her level.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Pastor Michelle Bradshaw of Akron, Ohio, uncle John (Tracy) Jennings of Columbus, Ohio, James (Arnah) Jennings of Lexington, KY, aunts Jo Mae Bradshaw of Nicholasville, KY, Georgia M. Bradshaw of Nicholasville, KY., special cousin Melissa (Phillip) Burch-Chenault also a host of cousins from Akron, Detroit, Alabama, New York, Kentucky, and other parts of the country.
