David Bristow

December 20, 1932 — February 23, 2025

David James Bristow was born on December 20, 1932 , in Timmonsville, South Carolina, to Rovenia Carolina and Woodrow Bristow. He was raised in Sumpter, South Carolina where he graduated from High School. He completed 3 years of college education at Morris College. He enlisted in the United States Airforce in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1968 with the rank of Sergeant at Rickenbacker Airforce Base in Columbus, Ohio.

He worked at D.C.S.C for a few years and later was employed at Doctor's Hospital North where he retired after 35 years.


He was a devoted member of Triedstone Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board.


David was best known as Pops, Papa, Mr. B., D.J., Bro. Bristow and, "The Best Dressed Man in the Land". He was a Cadillac connoisseur, a member of VFW #763 and Just Us Jazz Club, both in Columbus, Ohio. He enjoyed all music genres and dancing.


David is proceeded in death by both parents, and son (Charles Forrest Bristow), and is survived by his wife, Estelle Vandross Bristow, daughters, Evelyn Lee (Robert), Peggy Buckman, Dr. LeVelle Bristow Jenkins (Cecil Sr.), Carole Birdsall (Dorsey), Cheryl Scott, Crystal Scott, Altimiece Scott Upchurch, Honorary daughter, Connie Cooper, grandsons, Dontai Jones, Charles Quincy Moore, Dominique O'Neill, Cecil Jenkins Jr., Jared Jenkins, Cameron Scott, Antawaun Scott, Barry Upchurch Jr., granddaughters, Marijah Scott, Eboni Scott and numerous cousins.


David received his wings on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the age of 92. He lived a full life of love and touched the hearts of all who knew him. He was the life of the party.
