David Phillips

David Phillips was born on August 25, 1946 in Talladega Alabama to Dolly Mae Phillips and Howard Duncan who preceded him in Death.

David attended Eastside Elementary School as an adolescent and Westside High School as a Teenager where he participated in a variety of sports including basketball , baseball, and swimming. He also was in a band where he played Guitar.

David also attended Job Corps where he learned a variety of trades.

Growing up in the segregated south David decided to join the civil rights movement to protest the injustice African Americans faced involving himself in protest to improve his community.

On September 26, 1967 David enlisted into the Army where he not only trained K 9 but also fought hard and put his life on the line honorably serving his country in Vietnam. Deciding to make the move North he found himself gaining employment at the United State Postal Service where he retired after many years of service.

David enjoyed life to the fullest doing things that he found pleasure in fishing, hunting, and traveling. He was also an experienced marksman who loved guns and who loved to shoot.

He leaves behind his partner in life Vicki Shepard son David Phillips (Janis) daughters Rita Phillips ( Darnell) Claudia Sy Danesha Phillips (Glen) brothers Tony Phillips(Helen) Donald Phillips (Charlotte) sister Mary Hampton(Vernon). 13 grandchildren Tianna Torenzo Ajanae , Asia, Ayanna,Aaliyah ,Andrea, Damone Michelle Sharfaa Ibrahim, Malaysia,Mari. 18 great grandchildren , and a Host of Loving nieces, nephews, Family and Friends.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Memorial Service 11:00 AM Saturday, August 5, 2023 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.
