Deacon Robert Overton

Robert Overton Jr. was born to Robert Overton Sr. and Corine King on August 7, 1928. He retired from the City of Springfield, Ohio. He was a devoted husband and father to many as he and his wife, the late Mary Overton received recognition from Clark County for the way they gave back to the community by providing a home to many children throughout their lifetime.

Mr. Overton was a devoted member and Deacon at Trydestone Baptist Church where he also assisted with the community Outreach Ministry and sang with the male choir at the church.

He was preceded in death by his dedicated wife, Mary Overton; father, Robert Overton Sr.; mother, Corine King; sisters, Carrie Borden and Francis Carpenter; brother, Larry Overton; children, Robert Overton III and Barbra Ann Overton; bonus children, Barbra Christine (Kelly) Chandler, Wanda Jean Applin; adopted son, Gary; bonus grandsons, Byron Finklea and Wille Finklea Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Carl Overton; devoted bonus daughter, Marquita (Dawayne) Williams; several adopted and foster children, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family and friends.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Trydestone Baptist Church,1710 Damascus Ave, Springfield, Oh 45506. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
