Debbie C. Rhodes

Our beloved Debbie C. Rhodes peacefully slipped away to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 9, 2024. She was born March 22, 1955, in Laurel, Mississippi, to the late Edd and Hattie Rhodes.

Debbie’s love for her family was unwavering. After moving to Columbus, Ohio in 1968, she dedicated herself to raising her family and working at The Ohio State University. Her retirement in 2012 marked a new chapter in her life, as she opened a home daycare. At her daycare, she provided care and became a beloved second grandma to many children. Her passion for her family extended to her love for the Ohio State Buckeyes, a team she never missed a game of.

Debbie loved her family fiercely, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was tough and feisty and lived life unapologetically. She didn’t hold back and quickly stood up and fought for those she loved.

In addition to her parents, Debbie is preceded in death by her brothers, Rudy Rhodes, Marvin Rhodes, and Joe Rhodes; and sister, Eddie Mae Bender.

Debbie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Tony (Monique) Rhodes, Derrick (Carmen) Rhodes, and her baby girl Myia (Alex) Williams; her loving partner, Reginald Shaw; and brothers, EdLee, Douglas, Cornell, and Clifton Rhodes; sisters, Shelly Davis, Annie Smith, Linda Rhodes, Dorothy Rhodes, Demmie Rhodes, Doris Rhodes-Walker, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Debbie will forever be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
