A Celebration of the Life of Deborah Wallace

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Deborah “Debbie” Sue Wallace, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025 at the age of 66 in Columbus, Ohio after a courageous fight with cancer. Born on April 19, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio, Deborah was the beloved daughter of Betty Wallace and Olan Belton, who preceded her in death.

Debbie grew up in one of the oldest residential communities in Columbus, Eastgate. She would later go on to attend Eastgate Elementary, Champion Middle School and East High School. She pursued further education, earning a security certification during her college years at Columbus Technical College. She dedicated her career to public service, retiring as a control room operator for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. Her sarcasm and professionalism left a lasting impression on her colleagues and community. After retiring she enjoyed childcare and worked at multiple daycares across the city of Columbus.

In her retirement, Debbie found immense joy in her role as a grandmother, and always ensuring she was up to date on current events and news. She cherished time spent with her family, creating countless treasured memories. Debbie was a huge fan of sports, her favorite teams were the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Boston Celtics. She was an amazing grandmother. She would attend sporting events, traveling state to state for Madison’s cheer competitions, and school ceremonies. She also volunteered as a teacher assistant for school field trips, and babysat her grandchildren whenever needed. She also enjoyed going to church, drinking dark roast coffee, nature walks, and reading.

Debbie is survived by her loving children, Thaishawn Wallace Sr. and Krystal Wallace; her grandchildren, Thaidra Wallace, Daiveah Wallace, Madison Myles-Wallace, Paris McNeil, Kai’dence Williams, Thaishawn Wallace Jr., Thor Wallace, and Trulee Wallace; and her two devoted sisters, Diane Plummer and Brenda Wallace. She was also survived by her special niece, Davina Morgan, who held a very dear place in her heart. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Betty Wallace and Olan Belton, and her brother, Jimmy Plummer.

Deborah’s legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
