Debra Lynn Hawkins was born November 2, 1959, in Mansfield, OH. She was the second child of Lerlean Hawkins and Bennie Davis Jr. Debra moved to Davenport, IA with her mother and siblings at an early age and remained a Quad City resident into adulthood.
Debra moved back to Mansfield for a short time (circa 1993) before returning to the Quad Cities a few years later. She would eventually move to Virginia in 2007 to live with her oldest and youngest children De’Aunte and Ronde’sha, respectively.
During her time in Virginia, she was able to reclaim her life and reestablish her career as a healthcare professional. Debra cared for many residents of the Manchester Lakes Apartments, a community for active seniors, in Alexandria, VA. She made a lasting impression on her patients and the community members alike.
Debra was an avid collector of things. Chief among her collections were women’s bags, minted coins, decorative knickknacks, and vintage jewelry. Her diverse affinities were akin to her personality dichotomies. Those who knew her were well acquainted with her outgoing nature, guarded demeanor, fiery spirit, and sometimes seemingly indifferent attitude.
She passed away due to complications caused by cancer on May 5, 2023, at INOVA Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, VA. Debra was deeply loved by her children and will be truly missed by all.
