Diann Stevens, born March 7, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio, peacefully passed away on June 22, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of the late John Henry Stevens and Estella Mae Davis.
Diann's life was a testament to her passion for education, reading, and community service. She cherished her time in various bowling leagues and found solace in her faith, dedicating her Sundays to worship at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where she served diligently for many years.
A graduate of East High School in 1970, Diann pursued higher education at Otterbein University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Social Work, and later at the University of Dayton, where she obtained her Master's in Social Work. Her career began at Franklin County Children's Services (FCCS), where she made lasting impacts within the Emancipation department through innovative programs and dedicated service until her retirement in 2009. Even after retiring, Diann continued her compassionate work at Hannah Neil and Nationwide Children's Hospital, leaving a profound mark on all those she encountered. Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional life into her personal passions, such as bowling, where she frequented Piketon Bowling Alley and traveled the world, and reading, often engaged in multiple books at the same time.
Diann's love for music led her to join the Friendship Baptist Church Jubilee Choir, where she served as President and Assistant Director for three decades. Her dedication to her church community was evident through her involvement in various ministries and her unwavering support for her pastor's initiatives. In 1984, Diann welcomed her beloved son, William Andrew Stevens, into the world, whom she cherished deeply throughout her life. Diann would always been seen with her Son whether it was at work, the bowling alley, or at church crawling under the pews.
Diann is preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Stevens and Estella Mae Davis, as well as her brothers, John Carlton Stevens Sr. and Gregory Allen Stevens. She is survived by her loving son, William Stevens; sister, Brenetta Todd; sister-in-law, Elaine Stevens; nephew, John Carlton Stevens Jr.; niece, Nicole Walker; dear friend, Brenda Harris; a host of nieces and nephews; and the entire Harris, Davis, and Ray families.
Diann Stevens will be remembered for her boundless love, infectious personality, and unwavering dedication to others. She leaves behind a legacy of service and compassion that will continue to inspire all who were privileged to know her.
