Doial Ann Macklin

Doial Ann Macklin was born August 9, 1933 to Thomas and Coleman Emerson in Huntsville, Alabama. Doial passed away on August 5, 2024 at her nieces home in Youngstown, Ohio. 

Doial retired from Abbott Laboratory. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She served on the Building Fund, Willing Workers, Vacation Bible School, Thanksgiving Dinner and MLK Breakfast. 

Doial enjoyed going to church. She loved her church family and children. She also enjoyed Bingo and the Casino.

 She was greeted by her parents, husband Joseph Macklin, sisters Georgia Mae Swindell, Juanita Emerson, brothers Lawrence Thomas Emerson, James Howard Emerson who preceded her in death. 

She leaves to cherish her memories nieces Dana (Maurice) Swindell Harris, Gwendolyn Burress-Cobey, great nephew Maurice Harris Jr. & DeMarcus Harris, great niece LaKeisha Cobey, Tonya Cobey, Dominque Harris Irving and a nephew whom she helped raise Andre Macklin. Tyrone Lindsay and Wayne McDonald who she thought of as sons. 

Special Friends / Caregivers Nettie Ballard, Linda Burrage, Juanita Harris, Michelle Lindsay, Monya McDowell, Johanna Norwood, Pat Pride, Betty James-Rembert, Berniece Waddell & Sonara Walker. 

Her special phone friends Marie Boswell, Doial Miller Burtin, Mary McDonald, Georgietta McElhannon, Brenda Reed and other friends. 

Aunt Doial fought a good fight. She was strong willed and stood on her faith. For we walk by faith and not by sight and she did just that. She accepted what was happening and never complained listening to her gospel music and prayed over herself. Asked God for forgiveness and let his will be done.
