Dolisa Hillmon

Dolisa Ann Hillmon was born December 17, 1961, in Smithers, West Virginia to Cora Towns and
Beverly Saunders. She relocated to Columbus, Ohio in her youth, where she attended Columbus City
Schools and was a proud graduate of South High School. Dolisa was a lifelong member of Higher Ground
Always Abounding Assemblies under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Sherman S. Watkins, and it was
here that her love for God was rooted and grew. Dolisa’s relationship with God was very personal to her, and her life was an illuminating reflection of His love and light personified on earth.

Dolisa had a very calming spirit with a big heart, and she never met a stranger. She loved and enjoyed life, living it fearlessly on her pursuit to carve out her mark in the world, meaningfully and purposefully. Life for Dolisa took on its greatest purpose when she married the love of her life Michael Hillmon and had two beautiful daughters Daniele and Domonique; Daughters who she doted over and were her pride and joy. Being a mother was Dolisa’s greatest enjoyment, and she poured herself into making sure that her girls were able to experience the pleasures of childhood, appreciate the growth of young adulthood and provide the foundation for them to pursue whatever their hearts desired.

Dolisa was equally committed to her career, spending most of her professional career as an
Administrative Coordinator in the Facilities Operations and Development Department at The Ohio State
University, where she retired in 2017. After retirement, Dolisa spent most of her free time baking sweet treats and being a super supporter of her daughters, their friends, relatives, and anyone she encountered.

After a year of traveling and enjoying all the comforts of being a retiree, Dolisa’s passion for people, landed her back in the workforce as she became employed at Celebrate Local, where she enjoyed interacting with customers and being a shining light to her coworkers and management team.
Dolisa’s zest for life, adventurous personality and “live life to the fullest” mantra was inspiring to
all who knew her. She loved to travel, experience new things and most importantly spend time with her
family and friends. Dolisa was affectionately known as “Doll,” “Auntie D,” and “Nana D,” and will
forever be remembered as the one who supported and loved everyone.

Dolisa transitioned on March 10, 2022, at Grant Hospital surrounded by her daughters and loved ones and will be missed by all who knew her.

Dolisa is proceeded in death by her mother Cora (Cleveland) Towns; father Beverly (Coscealia)
Saunders; sister Monica Saunders; and her brother Clarence Towns.

Dolisa leaves to cherish her memory two loving daughters Daniele and Domonique Hillmon. 4
bonus children Alisa Anderson, TyAnthony Briggs, Deiontae Hillmon and Jasmine Nance; sisters, Beverly
(Reno) Brown, Deborah (Marlan) Mosley, Tieshica Towns, and Tisha Jones; brothers, Cleveland Towns,
Claude (Coretta) Towns, Clevis (Rolena) Murphy – Towns, Theodore Towns, Anthony (Veda) Saunders,
and George Saunders; 3 bonus granddaughters and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dolisa made a huge impact on the lives of those who loved her most and though her physical
presence is no longer with us, her spirit will live on forever.
