Mr. Don White Sr. affectionately known as “Don Juan” throughout the city and surrounding area, passed away on June 22, 2023, at the age of 62. He was born on August 7, 1960, in Marion, Ohio, to Josephus and Ruth White. Don will be remembered as a loving family man, a skilled contractor, and a passionate music enthusiast.
Don attended Marion Harding High School and served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed with Superior Brass Mfg. for 10 years before later finding joy in his work as a contractor, specializing in remodeling homes and buildings. His dedication and craftsmanship earned him a reputation for excellence in his field. In addition to his professional pursuits, Don was an accomplished DJ, showcasing his musical talents to the delight of many and always had an ear for mixing music. Don was most certainly an anointed vocalized singer in gospel. Two of his favorite Gospel singers were the late Pastor Daryl Coley and the late Bishop Rance Allen. He was known as a jack-of-all-trades.
Don’s spiritual journey began at Mayes Community Temple Church of God in Christ in Marion, Ohio under the late Reverend John W. Mayse, where he spent his formative years. Later in life, he became a valued member of Greater St. John Church of God in Christ, Mansfield, Ohio, under the late Bishop Walter E. Jordan, then under Dr. Pastor Walter E. Jordan II, and currently was under the leadership of the Pastor Raymond Cochran of The Oasis of Love Church. Under the leadership of the late Dr. Pastor Walter Jordan, Don became a Deacon, July 23, 2017 where he also actively participated in the Choir and Men’s Ministry, finding solace and purpose in his faith.
Beyond his professional and spiritual endeavors, Don enjoyed various hobbies and interests. He had a passion for fishing, cars, and spending quality time with his grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply. His love and dedication to his family were evident in the joy he found in their company.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Josephus White; brother, Calvin White.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories that will be cherished by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jenise Hoagland-White; mother, Ruth White; sons, Don White Jr., Donathan White, Donn Deone White, Charles A. Catchings Jr. (Sherita); daughters, Valerie L. Catchings, Arielle D. White with sister, Treesa White; brothers, Terry White (Rita), T.J. Sampson, Alvin White, Larry White and Darvin White; grandchildren, Talayzha Catchings, Civante’ Catchings, Antonio Lindsay, Nylah Lindsay, Jay’Sean Lindsay, Nay’onna White, Da’Krion White, Zay’Onni Harris-White, Donise White, Donnell White; bonus grandchildren, Aailyah and Amyah with numerous godchildren nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
