Douglas Charles Swann 9.13.1951-9.17.2024
Born in West Virginia, his family relocated to Columbus, Ohio, before he was 3. He graduated from South High School. Afterward, he obtained an associate degree from Columbus State. He continued his education and matriculated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Capital University. Following graduation from Capital University, Doug gained employment at AT&T that took him to several places around the country to work and live.
Later when he retired from AT&T, he bought into a Janitorial franchise and ultimately worked for Homeland Security through the TSA. He was on a committee with the Afrocentric School and was an integral part of the TAWI Family Village. He left an indelible mark on the community and family.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pamela Swann. He is also survived by his siblings, Mark Hunter, Robert Hunter, Leonia Scott, Edmondia Ellis, John Scott, and Louis Scott; children, Bryan Triplett (Pamala), Carla Maxwell (James), Douglas Swann II (Kim), Paula Coffman, and Yolanda Stewart (Geoffery); nephews, Curtis Scott Sr., James Robinson, Gabriel Lightner (Earlene), and Alex Hunter (Lou); nieces, Leanna Lightner, Courtney Barton (Miles), and Samantha Hunter. He loved his grandchildren, Deja Williams, Ni’eja Seymor, Kynteja Moss, Titus Brand, Bryan Triplett II, Bry’an Triplett, Skai Hoston, Ted Wingo, Kyle Wingo, Kaiya Wingo, Temaya Wingo, Douglas Swann III, Brittany Dorm (Anthony), Courtney Stewart, Geoffery Stewart Jr., Isaiah Stewart, and Sydney Stewart. Doug is loved and missed by many great-grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
