Dwaine Alvin Byrd, Sr. was born February 24, 1948 to Lillian Brown and John Byrd Sr. in Columbus, Ohio. After years of illness he peacefully transitioned to eternal rest of Tuesday, September 18, 2012. He was preceeded in death by his mother Lillian Brown, Father John Byrd, grandparents Joseph and Elizabeth Brown, sister Crystal Lynn Brown-Dorrough and aunt and uncle Paul & Sirnella Kinzer.
Dwaine attended Central High School where he played football and ran track. After high school he married and joined The United States Marine Corps. 1966-1970, serving in South Vietnam 1967 to 1968. After serving in the military he graduated from Ohio University and Hocking Tech College.
Dwaine gave his life to Jesus Christ at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio and was a member until his health no longer allowed him to get around.
Dwaine loved his dogs, he had a love like no other for his dogs. He also loved to sign and talk about football among other things. If you were ever at any family gatherings he would always be singing or talking. Singing the O’Jays, Temptations, and Luther and telling his life stories to the young kids. He always talked about his dogs and he know everything, you could not tell him that he did not know EVERYTHING. But one thing is for sure, he did know everything about dogs.
Left to cherish his memory are son; Dwiane Jr., and Daughter Alicia Byrd-Council, granddaughter; Symone Byrd, siblings; Cassandra (Sandy) Brown, Larrita Byrd, John Byrd, Jr., and Clarence Byrd, special niece; April K. Woodard (Pinkum), special great-nephew; Jonathan Ziegler, special cousins, Arthur Brown, Denise Kinzer and Gerald (Stevie) Brown, best friends Donald Brown, William Hairston, Brenda(Byrd) Burson and Teresa Ann Banks and a host of other family members and friends.
