Dwight Britford

The heavenly Dawg Pound has another loyal fan now that Dwight has joined them. He was born, March 31, 1951, in Greensboro, Alabama to Albert and Annie Lou Britford. He peacefully went to rest on August 13, 2021, age 70, surrounded by loved ones.

Dwight was a graduate of Mohawk High School, eventually making his way to settle in Columbus, Ohio. His passion for Northeast Ohio sports never left as Dwight became an avid member of the Central City Brown Backers. Dwight dedicated his Sundays to cooking homemade meals and watching football as he was always ready to cheer on for his beloved Cleveland Browns, never losing faith in their ability to make their fans proud. Dwight was also a proud AT&T employee, retiring after more than 40 years of employment, where he developed relationships with his co-workers through their love of playing basketball and baseball. A devoted family man and father, Dwight’s legacy leaves behind a loving wife, four affectionate children, twelve cherished grandchildren, and three adorable great-grandchildren.

Dwight is preceded in death by his parents: Albert and Annie Lou Britford, brother: Albert Britford III, sister: Mary Roddy, and in-laws: Roland Clark, Douglas Clark, and Myron Clark.

Dwight leaves to cherish many memories with his wife of 40 years: Darlene Britford, daughter: Jennifer Britford, son: Dwight (Tasha) Britford Jr., son: Erik (Kastana) Britford, daughter: Darla Britford, grandchildren: Tayiesha Fleming, Brianna (Oscar) Linares, Tanai Miles, Dejon Britford, Imani Steele, Ellis Britford, Donovan Britford, Aaron Britford, Brian Lindsey, Xzavier Becton, Seven Thomas, and Avery Thomas, 3 great grandchildren,  sisters: Janie (Ted) Moore and Diane Payton, Carrie Carter, brothers: William (Juanita) Britford and Bobby (Carrie) Britford: sister in-laws: Marilyn Clark and Sarah Clark, brother in-laws: Joe (Jan) Clark and Alex (Carolyn) Clark: best friend: Brad (Lori) Rife, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family of Dwight Britford would like to express thanks to those who share our grief during this time of bereavement. All expressions of love and other acts of kindness are appreciated as we hold to God’s unconditional love. Please continue to pray for us as we do the same for you. Thank you.
