Elizabeth Caldwell, a beloved member of the Columbus community, passed away on April 3, 2024, at her home in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on August 14, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia and lived a life filled with love and dedication to her family.

Elizabeth worked tirelessly as a housekeeper in the hospitality industry, where she left a lasting impact with her hard work and dedication. She was a proud mother to her children, Cawanna, Janice, Willie, Maurice, Sofia, and Allen, who meant the world to her.

A woman of strength and resilience, Elizabeth’s legacy will live on through her children and the memories she shared with those around her.

Throughout her life, Elizabeth was active in the community and had a special bond with her sister, B.J. Washington, and brother, Ollis Daniels.

She was preceded in death by her life partner, Ronald Brooks; parents, Dee and Josie Butler; sister Katie Hughes; and nephews, Calvin Hughes and Enrique Ross.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Cawanna, Janice, Willie, Maurice, Sofia, and Allen. She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family, whether fishing with her grandchildren, bowling, or playing softball. Her infectious joy and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held at the Chapel of Peace – North on April 20, 2024, at 5:00 pm. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at the Chapel of Peace – North at 4:00 pm. As we honor Elizabeth’s memory, let us also rejoice in the legacy of love and joy she leaves behind. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
