Elizabeth Peek

Elizabeth Jane Peek, affectionately known as Betty was born October 11, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio and was called from labor to reward on July 18, 2016.

Betty was the third youngest of 12 siblings and was a product of the Columbus city schools.

Betty was born into gospel tabernacle and confessed Christ at an early age under the leadership of Bishop Hairston she faithfully sung in the choir ministry and was a Sunday school supporter until the demise of her health. Betty retired in 1985 from the Defense Construction supply center after 33 years of dedicated services.

Betty had three passions in life, her love for Christ, her love for her family, as evidence by her many trips to Detroit to visit with her daughter and grandchildren and her many trips to California and Texas to visit with her nephews.

Ultimately Betty was an avid sports fan and an authority on the subject.  When she was employed she planned all of her vacation to coincide with the World Series.

Betty was predeceased by her parents: Robert and Sylvia Cross Brown; her spouses Robert Wright and Floyd Peek, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage; all of her siblings, brothers Robert Brown Jr., Monroe Brown, Fred Brown, Willis Brown, George Brown and Johnny Brown, sisters Catherine Milton, Isabel Sockwell, Alice Mitchell, Sylvia Washington and Evelyn Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter Catherine (James) “Bootsie” Allen, five grandchildren Cameron (Carla) Stephens, Christopher (Theresa) Stephens, of Warren, MI, Marla (Dorian) Walker, Tamika Wilson and Toscha Wilson all of Detroit, MI, 14 great grandchildren, one sister in law Janie Brown, of Fayetteville, NC, special nephew and caregiver Geno Brown, and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Betty was God fearing, loving and generous and will be sorely missed by all who were privileged to know her.
